The Executive Committee

Rae André has served the Society as a Member of the Board, Chair of the Roethlisberger Committee, Chair of the Governance Committee, and Chair and Co-Chair of the Bradford Award Committee. She has presented at 10 Society conferences and published 6 articles in JME. The author of eight books and monographs and more than four dozen articles, her research interests have been eclectic and interdisciplinary. In addition to her interests in management pedagogy, diversity, personality, and international OB, she has had a career-long interest in alternative organizations. Her articles on government-sponsored enterprises, quangos, benefit corporations and economic development organizations have appeared in such journals as the Journal of Business Ethics, Economic Development Quarterly, the Journal of General Management, and the International Journal of Public Administration. Her books include Organizational Behavior: An Introduction to Your Life in Organizations, Take Back the Sky: Protecting Communities in the Path of Aviation Expansion, Researchers Hooked on Teaching (edited with Peter Frost), Positive Solitude, and The 59:Second Employee: How to Stay One Second Ahead of Your One-Minute Manager. Rae is Professor of Management and Global Sustainability at Northeastern University, where she is currently focusing on a new set of courses designed to develop leadership for global sustainability.

Dr. Joseph E. Garcia is the Bowman Distinguished Professor of Leadership Studies & founding Director of the Karen W. Morse Institute for Leadership at Western Washington University. He previously served at Western as Associate Dean and founding director of the College of Business and Economics' Center for Excellence in Management Education. In addition to leadership, Dr. Garcia's scholarship and teaching interests include managerial skills development, managing diversity, change management and cross-cultural management and organizational behavior. He serves as a reviewer and editor of academic journals in management and management education and is a member of The Academy of Management, former President of the Management Faculty of Color Association, and is the Vice-President of OBTS: Teaching Society for Management Educators. Dr. Garcia also serves as the Director of the Society for the Advancement of Chicano/Hispanic and Native American Scientists' Summer Leadership Institute. With Professor Karen Hoelscher, he is the co-author of the American Council of Education Series text Managing Diversity Flashpoints in Higher Education.

Dr. Jane V. Wheeler was a recipient of the New Educator Award (2001). She served as chair and member of the New Educator Award Selection Committee (chair - 2003; member- 2011 and 2002), as a member of the Fritz Roethlisberger Award Selection Committee (2009), and as a presenter for the Doctoral Institute (2005). She has given 12 presentations and published 4 articles in JME. Dr. Wheeler, a professor at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), is the past director of both BGSU’s Master of Organizational Development Program and Institute for Organizational Effectiveness and has won BGSU’s Marie Hodge Advising Award. She won the Walter F. Ulmer Applied Research Award sponsored by the Center for Creative Leadership. She currently serves as track chair for the 2012 Decision Science Institute Conference and is a member of the Academy of Management, the Organizational Development Network, and the Society of Human Resources Management. Dr. Wheeler’s research interests fall into four areas: leadership, adult learning, teams, and teaching effectiveness. Juried articles about her research findings have appeared in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, MIT Sloan Management Review, and the Organizational Development Journal.

Dr. Kane is a tenured Professor at the School of Business and Management, University of San Francisco. She was educated at Mills College and The Claremont Graduate University where she received a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and studied with Peter Drucker at the Drucker School of Management. Kathy’s teaching assignments include the MBA and MBAE core Leadership Dynamics course, The Advanced Leadership Seminar, and Negotiation, Bargaining and Conflict Resolution. She also teaches the Individual and Team Interventions Course for the Masters in Organizational Development Program. She has extensive experience consulting with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and worked with individuals and organizations in the area of personal and professional transformation. Her consulting interests include the areas of leadership development, organizational culture, vision and values, workforce empowerment, team building, strategic planning, and communication. Recently she has published articles in the Journal of Management Education and the Organizational Management Journal. She was honored with the Ignatian Faculty Award given to one outstanding faculty member each year by the University of San Francisco. She has also been awarded the Distinguished Teaching, Research and Service Awards from the School of Management, University of San Francisco.

John L. Bennett is Associate Professor of Behavioral Science, Director of the MS in Executive Coaching program and Associate Director of the MS in Organization Development with the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte. He has nearly 30 years of progressively challenging and successful experience creating, leading and being a part of change in various industries. John was CEO of an American Red Cross biomedical services division, where he led pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution operations and the development and delivery of essential human services. John has also led mergers and turnarounds, new product development, marketing and technology system designs and integrations. He served as CEO of The Foundation of Coaching, a project of the Harnisch Foundation and as Senior Vice President and Talent Solutions Director for Lee Hecht Harrison. John earned a BS degree from Mars Hill College, MPA degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an MA and Ph.D. in human and organizational systems from Fielding Graduate University. He also earned the Professional Certified Coach credential through the International Coach Federation (ICF), Board Certified Coach credential through the Center for Credentialing & Education as well as the Certified Management Consultant designation through the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC). He is actively involved in several professional organizations including the Academy of Management, American Psychological Association (APA), ICF, Institute of Management Consultants, Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (OBTS), Organization Development Network, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). Currently, John serves on president of the Graduate School Alliance for Executive Coaching, and as a member of the Board of NC IOP. He is a charter Fellow in The Lewin Center and was recently named a Founding Fellow of the Institute of Coaching, which is an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

Jon Billsberry is Professor of Management at Deakin University and Editor of the Journal of Management Education. Although a member of the society for several years, he only recently joined the Executive Committee following his appointment to his JME role. Jon recently finished executive roles for the Management Education and Development (MED) division of the Academy of Management, where he was Division Chair for 2011-2012. Jon teaches organisational behaviour and leadership and has recently designed a new Master of Leadership degree at the Deakin University with the first students enrolling to start their studies in 2013. His research is focused on two areas. The first area is innovation on management education and he is particularly interested in the use of film and other moving images in management teaching. He recently co-edited a book entitled Moving Images: Effective Teaching with Film and Television in Management (2012, Information Age Publishing) that offers practical advice and inspiration to all instructorsconsidering the use of such media in their teaching. His other area of research is organisational fit and he has a particular interest in misfit; how it forms and its implications. In 2013, his co-edited book (with Amy Kristof-Brown) on the subject, Organisational Fit: Key Issues and New Directions (2013, Wiley), is published. His research hasbeen published in the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business and Psychology, Journal of ManagerialPsychology, New Technology Work and Employment, Journal of ManagementEducation, Higher Education, and the International Journal of Management Education amongst others. He has written three books, edited five more, and published more than 40 journal articles and book chapters.

Nell Tabor Hartley,Ph.D., University Professor of Management in the School of Business, Robert Morris University holds degrees from Agnes Scott College, University of Illinois and Vanderbilt University. Her teaching and corporate training interests are in the areas of  civility and personality differences. Her administrative positions during a thirty year teaching career have included: Director of Corporate Education, Chair of Accreditation, and Department Head. The University honored her with the Outstanding Achievement in Teaching award. She is listed in the Fulbright Specialist Directory and has taught in Slovakia and Switzerland.

Dr. Micheal Stratton received a B.A. in Integrated Liberal Studies in Management and Political Science from Western New England University in Springfield, MA in 2000. He later completed graduate work at the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University Albany, State University of New York with an M.P.A. and Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy concentrating in Organizational Theory and Behavior. Dr. Stratton has published research in the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies and Organization Management Journal, in addition to other peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and conference proceedings. His scholarly interests include management pedagogy, organizational politics, emotions in the workplace, electronic monitoring, and qualitative methodology. He is a member of the OBTS, Academy of Management, Society for Human Resource Management, American Society for Public Administration, and the Southern Academy of Management. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies. In addition, he was the proud recipient of the OBTS 2010 New Educator Award. At UNC Asheville, Dr. Stratton teaches courses in organizational behavior, leadership, human resource management, and coordinates the senior humanities seminar.
